Point system: 2 points for each singles match win; 1.5 points for each
cut throat match win (0.5 points for each tie); 1 point for each doubles
match win; 0.5 points for each match played (to encourage folks to play
more matches).
The ih-tennis e-mail list has a whole host of people on it (some who
don't even live in the state anymore ;-) ); we use the e-mail list (and the scheduling xoyondo on the front page) to
organize weekly or twice-weekly matches at Nike Park (Diehl and Mill).
HOW THINGS WORK
Someone (usually me, but not always) resets the xoyondo at the top of the
page; the xoyondo (a web 2.0 tool available
at htts://xoyondo.com) is used to suggest possible dates/times for
matches. People indicate their availability there. Using that data,
people then will send an e-mail to the ih-tennis google groups list to make definite plans for a
given night. Other people can confirm. We are using the ih-tennis google group as it can serve as both a mailing list and also a web site (so you can choose to receive e-mail notification for every message sent/posted or else you can choose to receive a single e-mail digest for a given period time or else you can choose to receive no e-mail and just check the website on demand.
My guess is that most of us are somewhere in the USTA 3.0-3.5 range.
A few are higher; a few are lower. Come on out--it's very informal
and everyone is friendly.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE THREE PEOPLE SHOW UP?
We will play cut-throat (two against one and the person on the one
side serves; people rotate). If the server is broken, the other two players each get a point.
HOW MANY COURTS DO YOU USE?
Typically singles are better than doubles (though that can change
depending on who comes out); if courts are available and enough people
are coming out on a given night, we'll grab the courts so we can
play singles.
WHO PROVIDES THE TENNIS BALLS?
We're not that formal. People bring their own cans of tennis balls.
What time do we start playing?
In the spring when the sun goes down fairly early, it is good to start
games at 5 pm if possible. We'll let the xoyondo decide. The Nike courts
are lighted courts.

Both participants to every match should bring one can of new balls. One can gets used in the match, the second goes with the winner for use in the next match.
All participants agree to pony up for a prize kitty to be collected and awarded at our first awards dinner-out..
I suggest that anyone who is eliminated in the tourney challenge others who have been eliminated
